Magistrate not retained

I just noticed on the KSC web site that Clay County is looking for a new magistrate after Magistrate Judge Paul R. Wright was not retained this past election. I guess that is a bit of a surprise to me, given the high rate of retention for judges. I unsuccessfully looked for an article about this. Any readers know what was special about this retention election? It might be useful to actually publicize this a little bit to reinforce the idea that retention elections can actually be a check on the judiciary (to counter some of the "get rid of appointed judges" movement).
